Together We ATTEMPT Great Things

A warm hello to all UCCKE friends! This pamphlet will provide you with a clear idea of what a special school United Christian College (Kowloon East) – UCCKE is. The school is founded on God’s words with the vision of providing quality Christian school education to glorify His name. In the process of growth, the School has exhausted its facilities. With the aim of providing better facilities to the students and for future development, we are now adding a Dormitory and Facility Extension Block to our existing premises. We are inviting YOU to support our attempt to do great things for the glory of God.

For those who are members of our UCCKE family, I am glad to learn that you are eager to see the School develop and excel. I trust that you will support this building project with your utmost ability. For those who are Christians and for those who support quality Christian education, I believe that God is inviting you to participate in His ministry. Your prayer and possibly your financial support are crucial in advancing God’s ministry on earth. For those parents who are concerned for our future generations to be provided with quality education and would like to see Hong Kong prosper, your participation in this project is imminent to our success. It is beyond dispute that churches and Christian groups have made great contributions to education in Hong Kong. Many prestigious Christian schools have often been sought by parents for their children, and such graduates have influenced Hong Kong in all walks of life.

We believe that our school and students will be much blessed if more caring people are involved in this project. Your contributions, small or large, are essential and critical to the success of this building expansion project, to our future development and to the well-being of the future generations in receiving quality Christian education.

協力同心成大事

歡迎各位閱讀這本小冊子。滙基書院（東九龍）本著神的話語建立，致力為學生提供優質的基督教全人教育。由於學校發展迅速，為要向學生提供一個更完善的學習環境，我們計劃增建一座學生宿舍及綜合大樓。誠邀您參與我們的校舍擴建計劃，同心為神成就大事！

可能您會問：「我為何要支持學校的擴建計劃？」

假如您屬於匯基書院（東九龍）這個大家庭，相信已無用贅言，您一定會樂意見到學校發展得更為卓越，因而鼎力支持。即使您不是這個大家庭的一份子，您的支持仍然深具意義。擴建計劃本是為神而行的，您若然是基督徒，又或是認同基督教全人教育的理念，這個計劃就與您有關：神要藉著您去成就祂的使命！您的禱告和財政上的支持，對推動天國的事工實在舉足輕重。

又或許您會問：「我既非滙基書院（東九龍）的一員，又不是基督徒，擴建計劃與我何干？」

這計劃與您實在有莫大的關係。基督教對香港教育貢獻良多，全港約有一半的中小學和幼稚園都由教會或基督教機構開辦，當中有不少學校受到家長和學生的歡迎。基督教學校的畢業生，在社會各界都具有影響力。您若希望我們的下一代能夠有機會接受優質的基督教教育，為香港培訓更優秀的人才，請您支持本校的擴建計劃。

Teachers

UCCKE has been a gift from God – the building, site, location and most of all, its people, since its first year of inception in 2003. I felt excited and honoured to play a role in its pioneering work then. Many wonderful people have been blessed by the school. In similar vein, I genuinely look forward to moving ahead in its mission of expansion for both the school and community. I am eager, excited and enthusiastic to see the school achieve this dream. As the school launches its fundraising activities, and in particular, the Walkathon, I anticipate a united team spirit from teachers, parents and students with joint hearts and efforts to bring about the achievement of the intended targets and objectives of attempting greater things for God. May our endeavours to glorify His name through the school be instilled in all our hearts as we go forward!

Last year, our school had a Walkathon for raising fund for our new school building. It was a great event. Every student needed to participate in this Walkathon. As the funds raised are for a new building including a student hostel, a swimming pool, a gym room, a lecture room, a chapel, a canteen and some activity rooms, etc. Everyone felt excited about the Walkathon. When I received the pledge form, I decided to raise as much money as I could because I am one of the UCCKE students. Someday, I will use this building’s facilities in the future and everyone in UCCKE can use them, especially for overseas students and teachers.

I asked my grandpa, grandma, aunties, uncles, cousins, my friends in the church and even shop-keepers in the shopping mall near my house and the security guard in my block to support me. And I also brought the pledge form with me when I went everywhere. I didn’t want to miss any chance to ask someone to contribute. I feel very happy that I can receive the award for the highest number of sponsors in the Walkathon of October 2006. This is a good experience to ask people to contribute money for a Christian

school and support our school. I have learnt how to communicate with different people.

雖說擴建校舍的新大樓到啟用時我也未必能親身受用，但我和家人也挺支持這活動。其中的原因除了家中弟妹也有機會到滙基書院（東九龍）就讀外，也是因為一份情。

「工欲善其事，必先利其器。」，擴建新校舍確實能令我們作為學生的獲益良多，學校有更多空間教學，配合學生的全人發展，使校園的環境更臻完美。擴建計劃為我們學生帶來了這麼多益處，身為滙基書院（東九龍）學生的一員，我也會支持學校的擴建工程。常言道：「滙基（東九龍）是個大家庭。」家庭中的人必會互相體諒、包容和支持。同時間我們學生也透過支持學校去表達我們對學校未來發展的熱情。

When we first learned about UCCKE’s intention to build a new extension with more facilities last September, we were thrilled. A campus with more classrooms, an indoor swimming pool, a basketball court, a dormitory, a chapel and so on will obviously enhance the student development in various aspects.　However, when we gathered from the Principal Dr David To about the vision behind this new extension project, we were more excited with thanksgiving.

We deeply appreciate and fully support the school’s vision to provide the best quality of a holistic education based on God’s love and biblical principles. This new extension with lodging facilities will enable student exchange in the future, facilitating more outreaching work among both local and overseas students as well as their families. This will not only be a blessing to the local students but also an opportunity to share God’s love with youngsters from abroad. It is a demonstration of good stewardship of UCCKE. As the Bible says, “Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, faithfully administering God’s grace in its various forms.” (1 Peter 4:10)

With your support and generosity, UCCKE’s new extension project will not only stand for a new building but also a life example to bless the lives of many youth. Your participation in this meaningful task would be very much appreciated. May our gracious God richly reward your generous gift.

一所好的學校，除了要把學生教好，同時要讓學生懂得生活：懂得在生活中學習，懂得與人相處，明白處世做人的道理。滙基書院（東九龍）就是這樣的一所中學。我的兒子在這裡讀書，三年來我看到他一直在成長。成績雖然仍有改進的空間，但待人處事方面，無疑有不錯的表現。

我常覺得，學校對學生最大的貢獻，不是把他送入香港或海外第一流的大學，而是教化和激勵學生做「第一流」的人：敬畏上帝、孝順父母、自愛愛人、積極進取、知書識禮、熱愛生命。在這個方向上，滙基書院（東九龍）正是朝著優質基督教全人教育的目標進發和實踐。

本人謹祝願學校百尺竿頭，更進一步，籌款擴校成功。

教養工作非常重要，但父母沒有接受專業的培訓，如何負起這重要的職事呢？我們需要學校的協助，才能將子女培育成材。滙基書院（東九龍）擁有一群有使命感和充滿愛心的教師團隊來為我們提供優質的基督教教育，使學生喜愛學習，有責任感。這裡的老師是家長的好夥伴，陪我們一起建立學生的生命。感謝主讓我的三名子女都能在這片「不一樣的學習天空」一起成長。

學校與基督教滙基堂合辦的「家長學堂」，令許多家庭都得到適時的輔導和幫助。我們很高興教會和學堂願意為家長提供教育課程，令我們認識到家庭教育的重要性，更學會如何建立良好的夫妻關係和正確的人生方向。隨著滙基堂人數日增，小聖堂的興建相信會造福更多學生，即使畢業校友也可以參加職青團契，教會導師會協助年青人投入社會，活出豐盛人生。
